Opportunity’s Robotic Arm Stalls

Opportunity’s robotic arm, which has been intermittently problematic since 2005, has worsened recently. A small motor of the Mars Exploration Rover’s arm stalled on April 14. NASA's engineers and scientists are trying to put the engine back to work and evaluating the damage and changes needed on the science mission if the task reveals itself impossible.(read more)
